KAMA’s Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Philanthropic Fund Board of Managers are appointed on a yearly basis by a nomination committee comprised of previous leaders and current members.


KAMA At-a-Glance

Business

To meet our mission, KAMA meets regularly, with the following general frequency

• General Business Meetings (Monthly September through May)

• Executive Committee Meetings (Monthly)

• Committee Meetings (As Needed)

Doc Rock Planning (As Needed)

• *Philanthropic Board Meetings (Quarterly)

* The Officers and the Executive Committee of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance established a fund known as the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance Philanthropic Fund in May 1981. It receives tax-deductible contributions for the qualifying projects of the fund and for sponsoring activities to raise monies to be used exclusively for charitable, scientific, safety, and literary or educational purposes. The Fund is directed by the Philanthropic Board of Managers.

Volunteering

Our organization regularly has hands on interaction with both local and nationwide health initiatives as well as KAMA specific projects. Currently including supporting:

• First Hand (monthly meals for Ronald McDonald House guests)

• Vine Health Clinic

• MDC Education Programs
• Generation RX


Eligibility &

Membership Levels

Membership in the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance (KAMA) is open to all spouses of physicians in the greater Knoxville area according to the following eligibility guidelines:

Regular Membership

A Regular Member shall be the spouse or widow (provided she has not remarried outside the profession) of a physician who qualifies or qualified but is or is not a member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. A Regular Member may also be a physician who qualifies or qualified but is or is not a member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. She shall be eligible to vote and hold office. She shall be a member of the Tennessee Medical Association Alliance (TMAA) and may choose to join the American Medical Association Alliance (AMAA).


SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP

A Special Member shall be the widow of a former member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine (provided she has not remarried outside the profession) or the spouse of a retired member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, or the spouse of a former member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine who has taken full retirement before the age of 65 or whose spouse qualified but was not a member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. She shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of Regular members of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance (KAMA). She shall not be a member of the Tennessee Medical Association Alliance (TMAA) but may choose to join the American Medical Association Alliance (AMAA).


Associate Membership

An Associate Member may be a divorced spouse who was a Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance (KAMA) or Tennessee Medical Association Alliance (TMAA) member at the time of the divorce, provided  she has not married outside the profession.


Resident Physician Spouse Membership

A Resident Physician Spouse Member shall be the spouse of an intern, resident, or fellow in a training program approved by the American Medical Association. She shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of Regular members of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine Alliance. She shall be a member of the Tennessee Medical Association Alliance (TMAA) and may choose to join the American Medical Association Alliance (AMAA).

If there are any questions regarding your membership eligibility, a member of our leadership team will reach out to you directly to request additional information.  Application fees will only be processed after membership is approved.
